Skin spots (hyperpigmentation) are caused by an increase in the production and distribution of melanin in the skin, a pigment processed by specific cells (melanophores or melanocytes). The concentration of melanin determines the colour, which can range from lighter to darker than the surrounding skin or hair.

Composition of the Derma Whitening

DEPIGMENTING COMPLEX AND MELANOGENESIS INHIBITOR:

Resorcinol: Works on the tyrosinase enzyme, modulating melanin production. It is effective in reducing and correcting skin discolourations like sunspots, chloasma gravidarum, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. At this concentration, resorcinol causes the complete detachment of the stratum corneum and is known for its powerful lightening and depigmenting properties, making it a longstanding treatment for hyperpigmentation.

Arbutin: A natural hydroquinone glycoside, primarily found in the leaves of the Ursina grape. It inhibits tyrosinase, leading to a depigmenting effect. It is particularly useful for fighting localized hyperpigmentation like freckles, age spots, and sunspots by regulating melanin production.

Azelaic Acid: Known for its depigmenting properties, azelaic acid strongly inhibits the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme. Its action is indirect, resulting from the inhibition of NADP reductase, blocking the production of NADPH, a key coenzyme for 5-alpha-reductase. Due to its antioxidant effects, it is also an effective anti-aging remedy.

Vitamin C: An antioxidant with melanogenesis-inhibiting properties.

Glutathione: A low molecular weight thiol-tripeptide that plays a crucial role in maintaining intracellular redox balance. Along with its antioxidant properties, glutathione also promotes lightening by inhibiting tyrosinase and transitioning melanin production from eumelanin to pheomelanin. It also neutralises free radicals and enhances cell renewal.

Sh-Oligopeptide-1 (EGF): Reduces and prevents wrinkles and expression lines by generating new skin cells. It improves skin tone and energises the skin, giving it a youthful appearance. Polypeptide-9: Promotes vascularisation and neoangiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels) and enhances capillary permeability to facilitate nutrient passage.

Polypeptide-11: Also called acidic fibroblast growth factor. It stimulates the growth and proliferation of fibroblasts (collagen-producing VIP cells), tissue regeneration, and collagen and elastin synthesis.
